The Courtyard is a restaurant in the center of town in the Old Townhall Building. This almost came off it is al little "too much". I should have been braver and omitted more. As they say - less is more.

Angela

13 x 9 in - 33 x 22 cm
Angela was painted as a chalenge done by a few web based artists who work from a limited set of reference photos. You have to do a much as you can in 2 hours, which was not a problem for me. That is one advantage of developing a style in which you paint quickly.
She is just about OK, but I do find it hard to be subtle in watercolor on a such dark painting as this.

Man in a Hat
Click Image to see larger version in my gallery10 x 14 in - 25 x 36 cm. This was inspired by an old (pre World War One) colour photo from the Albert Kahn collection shown on a BBC4 TV prog. Did it come off - almost its a bit heavy handed and not enough lightness for my prefered style of watercolour.

Susan's Sweet Peas

My wife picked some of her Sweet Peas to take to a friend as a scented bouquet. What more do you need for an instant still life except an apple or two.
This was done in a 'Charles Reid' style which is my standard way to approach painting flowers.
